Practical Pet Care

Growing up, I always had a passion for animals and would jump at any opportunity that allowed me to spend time them. I started my own business in 1983, in my neighborhood walking and bathing dogs on the weekends. My first full time job at Cheshire Pet Supply allowed me to learn about many products to help a variety of animal needs. Once I bought my first car I was then able to expand my business outside the neighborhood and started pet sitting and overnight stays for owners that were out of town. Many years later, after marring a wonderful handy man, animal lover and very accepting husband, my dream of over night camp came true.
Along the pursuit of owning my own business, I have been involved in many volunteer positions and careers with a number of different animal species all of which have helped provided me with knowledge and information. I volunteered at Chastain Stables where I cleaned stalls, groomed and tacked up lesson horses, along with assisting the instructor during lesson time. I later worked at a summer riding camp as a counselor and instructor of beginner lessons. I volunteered at Zoo Atlanta working in the petting zoo and animal food preparation kitchen. I have worked at many different facilities for which is one of my biggest passions, as a vet tech. I was a member of the German Shepherd Dog Club of Atlanta and enjoyed teaching many classes of Puppy Kindergarten and basic obedience. I held the position of President for the Atlanta German Shepherd Rescue Resources Inc., where I also had the opportunity to be a foster parent to a countless number of rescue dogs. Most recently my family and I got to experience a year of being a puppy raiser for the Guide Dog Foundation in Athens.
My history shows my passion for animals. I look forward to the opportunity of getting to know you and your pets.
